The predicament of origins: What came first, science or religion?

Treading back to the inception of it all, the origin of human civilization before the existence of social circles and societies basis numerous demographic factors goes back to the most primitive form of group living i.e. tribes. Humans lived in close nit packs, discovering and experimenting with phenomenon and ideas through trial and error and reaching conclusions. This led to the formation of beliefs and theories. It starts from the mere idea of the necessities of humans, fire, water, and air. "Rain, the elixir of life was a phenomenon not so known, with this magical portion falling from the skies, the naïve human wondered why?" To decipher the reasons, the tribes started by figuring out the conditions that follow or prevail with rain, we are aware that we hear the rumbling sound, so they threw stones and pebbles down the hill to create that effect. Clouds right before a good pour turn grey, so they lit fire to send smoke up the sky to make it cloudy, just like before rain. These experiments worked numerous times while sometimes they didn't, leaving the human to think that some higher force is guiding the aftermath. That is where they thought that like living beings the higher force would also be happy and saddened by certain factors making them act in a certain way I.e. the difference between a good day of ample food and water to a day of drought and starvation. So how do you make someone happy? offer food and sacrifice for them, and for them food encapsulated grasses, grains and a further higher energy meal would be that of animals like goats and cows and the ultimate sacrifice of a human life. Hence, in a bit to find meaning and make sense of things empirically, they originated a belief system that created what we today know as religion. So, science came first making the basis for the religion that we know today.
